Middle School – Counselor (6th To 8th Grade) Sy 2027 2028

The Middle School Counselor works with counseling colleagues, faculty, and administration to deliver a comprehensive, preventive, and developmental counseling program for students in 6th to 8th Grade. Guided by the academic, career, personal/social, and global perspective domains of the International School Counseling Model, the counselor assesses student and school needs, provides individual and group counseling, follows up on student cases, supports referrals, and develops strategies for students facing social-emotional, behavioral, or academic challenges. The role also supports new students and families through their transition, leads parent workshops, and keeps the Principal informed of student well-being concerns. Reporting to the Middle School Principal, the counselor fosters a healthy and successful school environment for every student, in alignment with CNG's Mission and Beliefs.

🎓 Undergraduate degree in Psychology, Psycho-Pedagogy, Education, or School Counseling
📜 Graduate studies or specialization in School Counseling, Mental Health, or Educational Psychology (preferred)
⏳ Experience in school counseling or in private practice counseling school-aged students; school counseling experience in a bilingual or English-speaking school (preferred) and teaching experience are an asset
🗣️ Bilingual proficiency or full fluency in English; fluency in Spanish (preferred)
🧠 Knowledge of the domains, components, and competencies of the International School Counseling Model, with a deep understanding of the developmental stages of middle school students and of the cultural diversity of the host country and the international community
🤝 Excellent interpersonal, communication, and listening skills; approachable and able to build trust with students, families, and colleagues
🌟 Initiative, organization, effective problem solving, and follow-through, with genuine sensitivity to the well-being of students, families, and staff
🔒 Professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality in handling student and family information
